Description |
A guru bead is an essential part of mala necklaces and bracelets, also known as the "mother bead". It is a two-part bead with the 3-hole top part and the bottom calabash bead.
Mala necklaces are made up of 108 beads, a guru bead, and a tassel. A mantra is recited with each bead to help keep track of the prayer or meditation process, while the guru bead signifies finishing a complete practice. Normally a true guru bead features 3 holes and a smaller tower bead which holds the ends of your cords together. Although this is the traditional use of a guru bead, sometimes they are replaced by a larger, round standard bead with 2 holes.
Dimensions: round bead - 10mm diameter, 1.5mm hole, calabash bead - 7.5x7.5mm, hole: 1.5mm
