DIY Christmas Tree Earrings Tutorial
We have a fun and festive jewelry-making tutorial for you today – these sparkly Christmas Tree Earrings! You can make these out of just a few beads, a little wire and some earring findings.
These earrings are easy to make, but in case you missed our introduction to wirework tutorial a few weeks ago, you might want to check this out first to familiarize yourself with some basic wirework techniques.
For this project you’ll need the following materials:
- Gold or silver tone wire
- 2 x gold or silver tone head pins
- 2 x gold or silver tone ear wires
- 12 x 3mm or 4mm beads of your choice in 2 different colors. We’ve used Czech glass fire polished faceted round beads but all small round beads will work well for this project.
- 2 x 4mm cube beads in the color of your choice
- Round nose pliers and wire cutters (flat nose pliers are optional).
Trim off a couple of coils of wire with your wire cutters and then use the tip of your round nose pliers to make a loop in one end. Then, place the pliers underneath the loop and shape the wire around one of the barrels and away in the opposite direction as shown in the photo.
Slide one of the round beads onto the wire and bend the wire back in the opposite direction, so that the bead fixes into place securely. This bead will become a bauble on the tree branch!
Each earring component will be done in a zig zag pattern, with the wire going across and back again with beads at each bend. Start to bend the wire where you think your second bead (or bauble) will need to be placed.
Slide on another bead in an alternate color and bend the wire back in the opposite direction.
In this step, start to bend your wire slightly further away than last time, to make your second set of branches. Add a bead in the same color as in the last step.
Continue following steps 2 to 6 to add on enough beads to make 3 sets of branches for your Christmas Tree Earring component. You should have 6 beads acting as baubles for each earring.
To finish this section, make a loop with your round nose pliers approximately halfway across the bottom and trim off any excess wire with your wire cutters.
Finish off your Christmas Tree Earring component by creating a tree holder/container at the bottom! To do this, slide a cube bead onto one of your headpins, make a loop with your round nose pliers and attach it to the bottom loop you made in step 7.
Repeat steps 1 to 8 to make another earring component! Then you can enjoy wearing these festive earrings over the holidays!

I’m impressed with this idea. However, what gauge did you use for the ‘tree’?
