• britanica started the topic Hanging mirror strands… in the forum Community 3 years ago

So I recently got a bunch of those mirrored squares hoping to make wall hanging strands like the ones pictured below but I have yet to find a glue that is non-toxic that will actually hold them in place.

Anyone know a good method or glue to make this work? I have even tried super glue and it just don’t stay put. It needs to be thick enough to…[Read more]

Table top fire bowls!! I had no idea this was a thing!

I did a bit of digging and reading and this one seems to be the easiest to make and relatively cheap as well : https://todayscreativelife.com/diy-tabletop-fire-bowl/

I guess you can use whatever kind of stones or glass you would like. I think I would tweak it a bit and add citronella oil…[Read more]

A friend of mine has gotten several items from this eBay seller’s page:

    http://www.ebay.com/usr/hunmese?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

They have very good ratings and only ONE negative feedback which is pretty impressive. You can see everything they sell here:

  • Yeah cutting them can be a pain but most bottles are those thinner ones now so it isn’t as hard. I did find this which could be interesting:

People are using water bottles to make room and space dividers.

Ahh Okay I see it! Must have missed it. I am always looking for icons. Must be a habit. Thanks for letting me know about that!

I think it would be great to have social sharing icons on thread pages. I know a lot of people like to share pages, specially when it comes to craft making and DIY items. Is that at all possible on this forum?

I actually started loving the look of belly beads a few years back and did end up making some for myself. They are very easy to make and can be worn by girls and women of all ages. When they are made right they wont break and they look very cute over bathing suites, bikini or not!

Even pregnant women can wear them 🙂

    Have you ever made any?

  • Anyone know any cool crafts you can do with water bottles? I drink bottled water and go through so many bottles. I would love to recycle them on my own terms and use them for something. I was thinking of something outdoors. I did find some bird feeders but I want to use them on a larger scale. Any ideas?

This is another cool one, specially for wine lovers. If you don’t drink wine you can just buy the corks at a craft shop. The instructions are below!

  • The tags are better and you can target more people. I managed to get over 1000 followers on there without following a single person just by posting relevant things and tagging them to reach the people I wanted to reach.

  • Tumblr is a blog yes but it targets a lot of girls and women 14 to 34. That is a good selling range for most crafts one would make. You can just set up a basic account and then share pictures with the link to the product on it. Using the proper tags is essential and using a lot of them is well worth it.

  • I do cost of supplies and then charge by the hour. I usually do $10 an hour. So if a necklace cost me $5 to make and took 2 hours to do, it would be $25. I think that is a good standard to go by so you are not underselling your work.

  • britanica replied to the topic Books in the forum Community 3 years ago

Well this depends on what you are looking to make. I tend to just find what I want online instead of in books but one I do know of that is really great is Craft-a-Day: 365 Simple Handmade Projects. Not a traditional one but great for anyone under a lot of stress.

So for anyone who has ever been to a craft shop, it can be a bit overwhelming. I find in most cases, it is easier to just get what I need online. So I think this would be a great thread for people to share eBay shops, Amazon shops, or general craft sites they find good deals on.

One of my favorites is https://www.consumercrafts.com/

  • I think certain platforms work better than others. I would say for handmade items, jewelry or not, Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr are the best social platforms to go with. A more experience person can make how to videos on Youtube and then link to their shop for people to buy what they show themselves making in the video.

  • britanica started the topic Felting – Is it hard? in the forum Community 3 years ago

I got a felting kit on eBay from China. I think it was $8 and change. I intended on making little cats but my first go at it was not so good. I see things like below and want to make them but it would seem it takes a lot of skill for that…

So have you tried it yourself? How hard do you think it is?

Those are so cute! I would have to do a bit of digging on my laptop to find the etsy pictures I had when I was selling them. I actually would like to get back into it again and make video game inspired ones. I have done Batman ones before.

  • Yeah that is another reason why eBay and Amazon don’t do well for people starting out. There is just too much going on. With Etsy, you know what you are going in for. Most of what is sold on there is handmade to some extent and that is what makes it easier to make sales. I did no advertising at all and go those sales.
